Meet the Directors
Bob & Jane Strauss has been Camp Wigwam’s full-time Directors for over 40 years. Bob’s parents, Ned and Helen Strauss purchased the storied summer camp in the fall of 1964, from its original owners and founders, Abraham “Mandy” Mandelstam and Arnold “Pop” Lehman.
With the support of the Strauss family, Neal Goldberg is carrying on the long-standing traditions of our beloved camp. Over 20 summers Neal rose from camper through the counselor ranks, to become one of Wigwam’s most trusted seasonal directors. Just as any lifelong ‘Wammer would feel, he is joyful and honored to be stewarding Camp Wigwam into the future.
Cameron McAllister has been the camp’s seasonal director for many years now. His passion for programming, youth development, and education is a vital contribution to our goal of providing unforgettable experiences every summer, for every camper. In the offseason, Cam teaches 3rd grade in Farmington, Maine.
Whether camp memories were forged in the twentieth or twenty-first century, generations of campers and staff call Camp Wigwam their summer home, a testament to the lure and magic of time well spent on Bear Lake.
On behalf of every past and present director, we welcome you to Camp Wigwam.
