Dear Alumni Participants:
The 2010 Camp Wigwam Alumni Centennial Celebration, “We Shall Remember,” is now behind us. I think I speak for every participant that attended this event that the only flaw was that it simply flew by too quickly. It was a hug-fest like no other, a heartfelt reunion that touched each of us to our souls, a summer camp experience that reminded every Wigwammer of days gone by.
I have received countless notes since Monday expressing thanks, and joy, and emotion, each of which has brought me to tears. Len Schiff, 83 years old, called this one of the greatest experiences of his life. Josh Weiss, our History Hall co-curator, mentioned that his wife wanted to know when he planned to take off his Wigwam shirt. I think you can guess his response.
Well… what next, and when do we do it again? The what next is easy. I ask that you simply stay in touch, stay involved. There is an open invitation to all of you to visit Camp Wigwam whenever you can, no matter the season. Please make sure it’s not 10, 20, 40 years in between dips into Bear Lake this time around. Come enjoy the magic that is, and has always been, Camp Wigwam. Also, we have an alumni building to erect. Visit the website www.campwigwam.org, and jump on board. We encourage you to be part of this monumental feat.
The… when do we do it again? Well I will tell you that I’m already softening on that subject and think that five years might be too long a gap. We’ll keep you informed, I promise.
Finally, I’d like to turn the tables right here and send a thank you right back to each of you, the participants of the greatest Wigwam celebration in recent memory. You made this one memorable, in a positive way, and each of us is richer for this fantastic Centennial Celebration just past. “We Shall Remember,” indeed, we shall remember this one for a long, long, time.
